Colin Powell. The story of - how Colin Powell Endorses Barack Obama?

In the beginning of the year 2008, Colin Powell 's name was mentioned as a possible
running mate of Republican nominee John McCain for the 2008 U.S. presidential
election.

Also in the summer of 2007, Colin Powell donated the maximum to John McCain's
campaign.

Eventhough some had speculated that Colin Powell would ultimately endorse Barack
Obama. On August 13th 2008, Fox News analyst Bill Kristol stated that Colin Powell
will endorse Barack Obama for president and may give a speech at the 2008
Democratic National Convention. Colin Powell has said in response that he does not
have time to waste on Bill Kristol's musings.

Colin Powell told CNN News in February 2008 that he will vote for the candidate
he thinks can do the best job in America — whether that candidate is a Republican
or Democrat or an independent.

On August 23rd The Politico reported that Colin Powell was considered by John McCain
for the vice-presidency.

On October 19th 2008, Colin Powell announced his endorsement of Barack Obama during
an interview with Meet the Press. Colin Powell stated that while he respects both
candidates, he didn't believe Palin is ready to be president of the United States,
should the need arise. Colin Powell was also troubled by questions over whether
Obama was a Muslim or a Christian. Colin Powell stated that while Obama is a Christian
not a Muslim, the really right answer is what if he is? This was followed by a discussion
of the contributions of Muslim-Americans, particularly of one who died as a soldier in
Iraq. Colin Powell concluded by stating that he look at these kind of approaches to the
campaign, and they trouble him Over the last seven weeks, the approach of the Republican
Party has become narrower and narrower.
